Anne & Arron @ River Highlands Ranch & Vineyard

I am so excited about todays post, so excited that I'm going to post it all week!
Anne and Aaron were married at the http://riverhighlandsranch.com in Smartville California.
The wonderful, amazing, fabulous http://tanjalippertphotography.blogspot.com was their photographer.
I met with Anne almost a year before the wedding. We came up with a design plan. Then, just 6 weeks before the wedding we did a walk through of the property and changed the whole thing! Weddings are such a process, I do love how it all turned out.
River Highlands Ranch sits in the middle of 500 acres. To help lead the way we created a series of moss hearts to help lead the way, the largeset of the hearts was set out on the main road.

We hung moss hearts with Anne and Aaron's initials on the main gate leading to the ranch.

We put these little picket fence signs down the road leading to the barn, we even wrote a corney poem!

Almost there.

The beautiful barn

Love, love, love the barn doors!

When you get married at River Highland Ranch, you can spend your wedding night in the darling cabin. It sits in front of a creek and pond and even has a rope swing if you want to dive in!

The creek and pond in front of the cabin.

Meanwhile Anne was getting ready upstairs in the barn.

Love what Tanja did with these old tanks and LOVE that Anne would climb up the tank in her dress, before the wedding!

Love the woodsy feel

Stay tuned, tomorrow I will feature the ceremony!
If you like Tanja's work, you HAVE to click this link to the shoot that made me fall in love with her. http://tanjalippertphotography.blogspot.com/2008/09/greatest-engagement-session-ever.html

Sacramento Grand Ballroom Wedding

Last weekend Blooms was at the Sacramento Grand Ballroom for Stephanie's wedding. We created a ceremony space using a rod iron screen and then dangled rosebuds from crystals garland.

Happy Birthday Rachel

Today is my daughter Rachel's 19th birthday! You may recognize her as the model for Bella Donna Bridal or the Memory Journalist I love her so much and am so proud of her! Last year she did her senior year of high school and full time cosmetology school simultaneously while also working.

So this year, she is working hard at establishing herself in the beauty industry.
If you need hair and make up for your wedding she's your girl!

Life as a floral designer

For those of use in the wedding business, weekends are sort of a funny thing, we look forward to them, but not in the same way most "working" folks do. Rather than making plans to mow the lawn, (though it really needs to be done) or go wine tasting, most weekends are spend in a flurry of hurry as we race around like mad to produce someones very special day.
This weekend, I don't have a wedding, by choice, (I'm trying really hard to not schedule like a maniac so that I don't end up a lunatic at the end of wedding season being hauled away to the asylum) I sit in my cozy home with a fire on, sipping coffee thinking about all I am going to get done, pulling weeds, putting the dozen new lanterns I bought for a wedding in October up in my storage, cleaning out the cars, preping my flower room etc...
The crazy thing is, come Monday I go into a different world, I'm heading out of town to meet with a wedding pro I admire, then, on Wednesday heading back into wedding whirlwind as I design 2 weddings for the weekend, where no weeds will be pulled, the cars will get messy and my workroom? It will look like a bomb went off by the time I head out on deliveries...but for now, I don't have to worry about any of it, just soak in the quite of a weekend morning with nowhere to be and no deadlines to meet.
I hope you get to enjoy your weekend and find sometime to just be.

Anne Andrews photography & Rachel Andrews Hair Face & Fashion

Today you will find no flowers here, rather a boudoir shoot. You see, I am a proud mom of a photographer and make up artist and this is their first boudoir shoot together!
Anne is my photographer and 3rd born child and Rachel is a stylist, hair, make up and fashion, she is my 2nd born child. Together they are absloutley fabulous! And I am SO proud of them. Jessica has hired them to style and shoot her wedding in Napa this fall. She flew up from L.A. to do a practice run. Here are a very few of the photos, I just couldn't publish most of them well, cause they are privet...for his eyes only kind of photos.

The one above is one of my favorites, so Jean Harlow! Love love love it!

White bridal bouquets

When I started as a floral designer, almost 30 years ago, quite often I would make the brides bouquet all white, it was what we did, the bride wore and carried white. Then a new trend, lots of color, it made the flowers pop in photos and added a lot of variety. Last season I started seeing a move back to white for the bride. There is something special in keeping the bride all white, or ivory and then bringing in your color with the bridesmaids.
