Corsages as jewelry

When considering the corsages for your wedding, consider adding a little bling to your pieces. The mothers will be wearing elegant dresses or gowns and a few rhinestones or pearls can really accent their ensemble. Whether they choose to pin on or wear a wristlet the possiblities are unlimited. If they do choose a wrist corsage to walk down the aisle, the choices here have improved quite a bit since the day of your prom. Gone are the silver stretchy, replaced by rhinesones, pearls and many other braceletts designed to look like jewelry.

Organic herbal bridal bouquet

We all know there is a huge trend toward eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable products, and the wedding industry is no exception. Most people are putting their money where there mouth is and are fully embracing a lifestyle that will be better for our planet. So when I bride starts looking for a florist it is becoming more common that she wants to know where her flowers are coming from.

Thankfully Blooms is located in a place that allows for purchasing many of our flowers right from the grower, or even using flowers and greens that we grow ourselves. Being in the central valley of California, farmers markets are everywhere and having our workshop in the country, we are near many local growers of flowers, vegetables and herbs.

The bouquet shown was made up of herbs grown by Blooms just for putting in bouquets, oregano, sage, rosemary and kale. The flowers featured are roses, bouvardia and celosia.

Another wonderful thing about using locally grown flowers is you actually have fragrance. Many wholesale grown flowers have been so genetically altered that the fragrance is diminished or gone altogether.

Flower girls

Anyone who know me knows I love children, I should, I have 7! One of the best parts of a wedding are the children involved especially the little girls. I was one of those girls who had her wedding planned by the time I was 3. I still remember how it felt to play dress up and dream of being a princess. I think that's why a flower wand is my favorite choice for flower girl accessories. What better way to "play" princess than to get to be in a wedding, walk down the aisle all dressed up in a spinney dress carrying a flower wand.

I also love making little baskets or purses out of flowers for the flower girl to carry. This way she has a floral bouquet of sorts, but can still toss petals.

Four legged friends

For so many people their pets are a part of the family. Don't forget them on your wedding day. A floral garland, a pretty ribbon, even a boutonniere or corsage looks darling on your furry friend.

Your guests will love the quaintness of seeing your dog or cat all dolled up. And you will love knowing you included the one who greets you with affection everyday.

New office!!!

I'm so excited! Stephanie, of the fabulous Stephanie J Designs, and I have a new office.
I have lived in Lincoln for 20 years now and have always loved the old Lincoln Brand Feed building. It was such a small town building. Big grain silos where the farms would bring their grain to store and sell. I thought it was brilliant a few years back when the owners decided to turn it into a retail center. It has the best of old and new Lincoln. And now, I get to share a corner of it in an upstairs office.
Call and come see us sometime!

Thank you note for the last wedding of 2010

It is always so nice to receive a thank you note after a wedding, but to receive a thank you at 2:00 in the morning just hours after the wedding is really flattering!
Here's what was in my mailbox this morning.

Martha,

I simply do not have words to express my appreciation for all you've done for April and Blake's wedding. You and your family/crew worked VERY hard all day, and it was beyond beautiful! There was not one detail missed, in fact the room was all about the details. Our guests constantly commented on the flowers, the tables, and the overall transformation of the room. In fact, my friend Crystal (wife of our pastor who married Blake and April, and life-long friends) commented that it was the most beautiful wedding she had ever been to, and she has been to hundreds.

Thank you from our hearts for the outstandingly awesome wedding decor and elegant ambience you created for this magical evening. I know that Blake and April savored each moment against the warm wintry backdrop of their reception area.

I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone who asks me for floral referrals. It was a pleasure working with you, and I wish you the very best continued success in your business.

With much appreciation,
Debbie Haynes
